Scentsy is an offspring of the simple idea of creating "safe fragrances," nurtured into an award-winning brand by Orville and Heidi Thompson after acquiring it in 2004.

The first thing they did after the company's acquisition was to change its business plan to direct sales, which has been the secret to the company's enormous success and the success of individuals associated with it. By now, Scentsy's annual sales have exceeded 1 billion USD, with thousands of independent representatives scattered across the US, Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Along with enormous financial success in the world of direct sales, the company also holds numerous accolades to its name. Scentsy has been featured on Forbes multiple times, including in the 2011 list of America's 100 Most Promising Companies, the 2018 list of America's Best Midsize Employers, and the most recent 2022 list of America's Best Employer for Women.

Scentsy has also been recognized by the DSA (Direct Selling Association) and DSN (Direct Selling News). It is currently ranked at #17 in their global top 100 Direct Selling Brands list. Being an all-around fragrance brand, Scentsy sells all types of fragrances and accessories that could enhance their overall experience. Although all the product categories are scent oriented, the variety is enormous, providing you with enough tools to experiment with as you start your journey.

Scentsy's Compensatin Plan Type is Unilevel

In the unilevel plan, which is used by Scentsy, all directly sponsored members who are recruited by the Scentsy independent distributor are placed under him/her into a single business level. Additional levels are then created as those sponsored members build teams.

The uni-level compensation plan typically will payout on several levels below the distributor, depending on his/her rank.

For example, new Scentsy distributors who are just starting out may only earn commission on the sales volume of their directly sponsored team members or level one. Once they achieve a higher career rank, they may earn commission on levels below their directly sponsored team members. Future rank advancements may include additional levels of commissions earned farther down their sponsor tree.
